Dorje Dolma is the author of Yak Girl: Growing Up in the Remote Dolpo Region of Nepal. She is also an artist and an inspirational storyteller. In her presentations, Dorje educates through fascinating stories, photos, and video clips about an extremely remote area of the world. She educates listeners about her unique Dolpo, Nepal culture through storytelling and a PowerPoint presentation. Listeners are often captivated by her encounters with wolves and snow leopards as a very young herder living at 13,000 feet. Many are touched by her willingness to persevere through difficulties and her strong desire to give back and help others.

Dorje speaks about the centuries-old way of life in her isolated homeland, how it’s being changed by the slow trickle of modernity now reaching it, and the most effective ways for First World citizens to help those in the Third World. She has done many presentations over the last couple of years in Europe, Nepal, Canada and the US at secondary schools, senior living centers, universities, service clubs, libraries, conferences, bookstores, and many nonprofit organizations. Dorje was the keynote speaker for the 2019 Hyatt WOW Women in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her mission is to inspire others through writing, art and speaking to help spread kindness and to educate about the need for medical and educational resources in Dolpo.

Dorje is available to do online and in-person presentations. The presentation is usually about an hour long, but the time can be customized to your event. If you would like to book Dorje speak at one of your events, please email her to go over details or book now.
