I am a visual artist and the author of a memoir called Yak Girl: Growing Up in the Remote Dolpo Region of Nepal. I grew up in the high Himalayas of Nepal herding yaks, goats, sheep, cows and horses. My job included chasing wolves and snow leopards away. When I was nine, I found out that I would have about a year left to live if I didn't get medical help. My parents and I walked for over a month to to the city of Kathmandu and I got a second chance in life. I went to America to get the medical care that I needed to survive and was adopted by an American family. I then went on to get an education, become an artist, and write a book. I hope you enjoy my artwork and new book!
